Role Purpose:
As the Chief Engineer, you will oversee the engineering and maintenance operations of the InterContinental Hotel, ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests and team members. You will demonstrate exceptional multitasking abilities and proficiency in addressing repair needs promptly. Motivating and training your team to uphold the highest standards, you will ensure that the hotel maintains its pristine appearance at all times.
Key Accountabilities:
People:
- Direct the daily engineering tasks, meticulously planning and assigning work to ensure optimal team performance.
- Foster the growth and development of your team through coaching, feedback, and setting clear performance goals, while acknowledging and rewarding outstanding performance.
- Recommend or initiate necessary HR actions as required.
- Uphold a safe and secure environment for guests and team members in full compliance with regulatory policies and procedures.
- Cultivate positive relationships with external contacts, including guests and regulatory agencies.
Guest Experience:
- Anticipate and address guest needs promptly to ensure their utmost satisfaction.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive maintenance program to guarantee the hotel remains in top condition for our guests.
Responsible Business:
- Manage inventory, ordering parts, and supplies while minimizing waste and promoting environmentally friendly initiatives.
- Oversee hotel security measures to mitigate risks of theft, crime, and other hazards.
- Undertake ad-hoc duties as necessary, rallying the team to efficiently complete tasks.
Accountabilities:
This role encompasses overseeing maintenance and engineering operations for various hotel amenities, such as food and beverage outlets, meeting spaces, or catering facilities. You may also supervise a small maintenance staff.
Key Skills & Experiences:
- Completion of some college or advanced vocational training.
- Four years' experience in general building maintenance and/or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields.
- Possession of Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, as well as licensure as a plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required.
- Prior experience in the hotel industry is preferred.
- Possession of professional certifications and licenses as required by law.
