About the role
The Engineering Finance Officer will play a key role in overseeing all administrative needs of the engineering department, including managing purchase requests, invoicing for goods received, and ensuring the accurate maintenance of engineering records. In addition to these responsibilities, the Officer will collaborate closely with the Management Team on day-to-day tasks, project work, and company initiatives. With a commitment to high standards and a dedication to supporting the team, you will approach each task with pride and a strong sense of ownership.
Your day-to-day
The Engineering Finance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all engineering administration requirements are met, including the creation and maintenance of engineering records and forms. You will generate financial and operational reports to assist with engineering operations and oversee the entire process of purchase requests, from requisition to invoicing. Additionally, you will be in charge of organizing and maintaining office supplies, ensuring that all equipment is ready for use each day. As part of your duties, you will enter purchase requests into our requisition programs and match invoices for payment once goods are delivered. Regular communication with the Director of Engineering and other senior leaders will be necessary to ensure project deliverables are on track, as well as to provide support for recognition or rectification as needed. You will also provide administrative support for policies, procedures, and project initiatives, assisting with action plan development and creating written and visual aids to support the engineering department. Coordination with suppliers, assisting managers with boat transfers and accommodation for contractors, and advising management of potential issues will be part of your role. Furthermore, you will assist with the department's financial end-of-month processes, upload documents, and provide support through the Engineering department's CMS. Your role will also include using necessary accounting and management software while supporting and representing Engineering in IHG initiatives, such as Green Engage and other projects.
What we need from you
To excel in this role, you'll need strong communication skills, as all areas of the Engineering Business Unit will rely on your assistance. Your problem-solving abilities will be crucial in turning challenges into solutions for the entire Engineering team. Fluency in English is essential, along with being literate and tech-savvy, including proficiency in basic math and computer use. Exposure to an engineering environment, particularly in purchasing and receiving goods, would be advantageous. You’ll need to possess influencing skills to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of business partners to achieve departmental goals. Flexibility is key, as work hours may vary depending on Resort requirements. A completed high school diploma is required, and while a university degree is a bonus, it’s not essential. Ideally, you’ll have at least 5 years of experience in a fast-paced role involving purchasing and receiving in a large engineering or service provider environment.
