Your day-to-day
- Day to day managing guest laundry, associate's laundry, uniforms and linen of the hotel
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the laundry department; schedule employees to ensure proper coverage within sub department.
- Ensure all staff is properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their respective job duties. Monitor performance, conduct retraining as needed, and make recommendations for disciplinary and other human resources-related actions. Alert management of potentially serious issues.
- Inspect the work of Attendants to ensure that appropriate chemicals are being used and that laundry areas are clean and in compliance with applicable regulations. Ensure that equipment is prepared and operational for the following day’s work.
- Document all guest requests for laundry services and assign to respective staff members for completion. Follow up on guest satisfaction as needed. Inspect guest laundry and linen and prepare for delivery.
- Respond to guest complaints, special requests and ensure corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
- Minimize waste within all areas of laundry.
- Attend all scheduled meetings, i.e. Rooms Division, Department Head, Safety, etc
- Utilize True Hospitality skills to drive guest & colleague engagement.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Routinely perform daily laundry and/or dry cleaning duties; receive soiled linens by bag, cart or chute from the floors, sort all articles by kind, color and degree of soil, inspect all laundry and linens and record all damaged or stained items, operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and other manufacturers’ guidelines, fold clean linens and store as appropriate, operate linen feeder, sheet folder, towel folder and table linen ironer machines.
- To identify and report hazards and maintenance requirements in the workplace with regards to equipment and assets and follow through with engineering to ensure no defects and zero percent breakdown.
- Responds swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situation
- Through close communication with Director of Housekeeping recommend areas in need of improvement
- May serve as “manager on duty” as required.
- May assist with other duties as assigned.
- Complete all paperwork and closing duties such as filling out supply requisitions, maintenance request forms, and updating log books, etc.
What we need from you
This job leads a staff of Laundry and Dry-Cleaning attendants in a large full-service, luxury flagship hotel, a number of major outlets, and high-volume catering and convention facilities with a focus on inspecting the quality of work and productivity.
Education
- Preferably a diploma qualification in Hospitality Management or High School Diploma or equivalent plus four years.
Experience
- 1-2 years laundry experience including some supervisory training/experience position or a related field experience preferably in a hotel of similar size and complexity.
- Experience in a 5-star luxury hotel company is essential.
Skills
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in Portuguese & English, particularly to deal effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. second language skills desired.
- Familiar with hotel software systems Property Management System, Excel, PowerPoint & other related systems.
- Able to work rotational shifts in any day of the week, including work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25 Kg and pushing and or pulling approximately 100 kg.
- Frequently standing up and moving, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Maintains high confidentiality in regard to guest privacy and any related hotel matters.
