As Head of our Maintenance department, you’ll ensure all aspects of hotel maintenance is kept to the very best standards and in line with all relevant health and safety legislation and procedures. The Holiday Inn Perth City Centre is a popular leisure and corporate hotel destination. The building has been welcoming visitors for a long time, even before it became a Holiday Inn in the 1980's. The hotel underwent a full refurbished in 2016. 

We're looking for an organised individual who loves working collaboratively within a team environment.

A day in the life of a Maintenance Manager varies greatly- you could be fixing a leak one minute, and planning + executing a major project the next. 

Some key aspects of the role include:

  • Managing a small team of Handy Person's, improving their performance through coaching and feedback, while creating performance and development goals.
  • Monitoring budgets and control expenses with a focus on energy management, preventive maintenance and capital planning.
  • Leading hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts and ensure timely completion of projects within budget.
  • Managing multiple deadlines, contractors and projects at any one time. 
  • Communicating to all hotel departments impacted by projects/works to minimise disruption to hotel operations. 
  • Executing a preventive maintenance programme to ensure the hotel is maintained and in service for guests.
  • Ensuring a safe and secure environment for guests, team members and hotel assets in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining good working relations with outside contacts such as contractors. 
  • Maintaining a focus and commitment to operating a “green” hotel. 

This role may sometimes be required to provide support to hotel colleagues after hours via telephone communication to assist in arranging emergency contractors. For this reason, our Maintenance Manager is provided with a mobile phone to use for work purposes. 

An ideal candidate will have:

  • A friendly nature and be someone who others can rely on (both hotel colleagues and guests). 
  • Excellent ability to collaborate with many stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Strong problem handling skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure. 
  • The ability to manual handle up to 15kg without difficulty. 
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) when liaising with stakeholders, both internal and external. 
  • Previous experience in general building maintenance is desirable.
  • Hotel experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Trade qualification is highly regarded but not essential.
