InterContinental Grand Ankara 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Luxury and Lifestyle General Manager to lead the pre-opening and opening of one of the oldest 5 star hotels in the capital of Turkey, located in front of the Turkish Parliament. This landmark conversion project will bring new life to the historic former Büyük Ankara Hotel, dating back to 1966, which later evolved into the esteemed Grand Ankara Hotel.

With its prime location near Ankara Castle, Anitkabir, Europe's second largest aquarium, parks, and museums, the hotel appeals to families, leisure travelers, and corporate guests. 

This will be a rebranding from an unbranded property with an additional annex building with 100 residences and public areas including all day dining. The hotel comprises 314 rooms, 3 F&B outlets managing up to 250 staff.  

We are looking for an experienced City Luxury Hotel General Manager and leader with significant expertise working in luxury hotels taking ownership of the day-to-day hotel direction, maximising financial returns, driving people development and empowering your team to create memorable guest experiences every step along the way.  

You will need proven expertise in how you deliver a true luxury and lifestyle guest experience alongside knowing how to position the brand in the market.  You will drive and seek out opportunities to improve commercial performance and owner returns.  

You will be a natural people leader, able to build trusting relationships that encourages and motivates your workforce.  You will develop a culture of innovation within your team and be commercially focussed, with a futuristic vision. 

A little taste of your day-to-day:

Leading the pre-opening activities of the hotel in the run up to the official opening of the hotel.  

Lead and develop a business plan to drive owner returns.

Recruiting, leading, managing and motivating a strong team, upskilling, recruiting, measuring and managing performance.

Reviews and implements strategic initiatives to drive commercial performance across the Hotel and its facilities.

Prioritises relationships with guests and external contacts such as current and potential clients, government officials, travel industry representatives, suppliers and local communities.

What we’d like from you:

Substantial prior upper luxury hotel general management experience in a City hotel as a General Manager. 

Pre-opening experience essential.

Genuine team development, guest, and owner focus.

Must speak fluent English and Turkish. 

Knowledge of local market highly preferred.
