YOUR DAY TO DAY

• Be familiar with the operation of washing equipment and machinery, and different types of materials and their reaction to heat, steam and water.
• Sweeps and mops the floor after sorting soiled linen.
• Observes the hotel policies in spotting, that is, the spotting job has to be taken very seriously, but no risks to damage guest clothing are to be taken during the process.
• Ensures the guest works and uniform for washing are properly sorted out in terms of colour, fabric before loading to the machines for cleaning.
• Checks and identifies different types of fabrics and their texture before process and notes the reaction of steam pressure and temperature applied to them.
• Ensures that suitable similar articles are put into washing machine, if not, uses laundry nets for small quantities and different items in a mixed load.
• Ensures colour items are not washed with the white.
• Constantly inspects the washed items and helps to maintain the quality standard as required, reports any abuse of linen.
• Reads all clothing labels before processing.
• Picks out the broken buttons or damaged garments from the processes for further repair and button replacement.
• Ensures the clean garments are stored in a clean and designated area.
• Follows all hotel rules and regulations including uniform standard and personal protective equipment.
• Ensures safety precaution and healthy measures are taken in his/her areas of responsibility.
• Recognizes equipment malfunction and contacts Laundry Manager, checks safety devices regularly.
• Sorts dirty items accordingly, and makes sure there is no trash in linen or silverwares to be loaded into the washer-extractors.
• Monitors the cleanliness of the finishing areas so as to maintain a clean and safe working area, and keep all equipment clean and free of lint.
• Knows chemical of Laundry Workshop, and helps to monitor the laundry cost, especially the right quantities of chemical dosage in every load.
• Cleans the back of the laundry machines daily.
• Reports any equipment malfunction.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Secondary education / equivalent plus 4 years of laundry experience preferably in a hotel of similar size, including office experience
