Duties and Responsibilities
As Public Area Attendant Shift Leader, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation in the following:
- Brief the Public Area Attendants at the start of the shift and allocate areas and tasks according to the daily plan set by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Adjust priorities during the shift according to occupancy, arrivals and departures, events, VIP movements and weather conditions (snow, slush and salt at the entrances in winter), and keep the Housekeeping Supervisor informed.
- Carry out regular walk-rounds of the guest public areas, back-of-house and host areas using the public area checklists, and have any deviation from standard corrected immediately.
- Act as the first point of contact for the Public Area team during the shift and respond to public area requests.
- Train new Public Area Attendants on the job according to the department’s procedures: cleaning methods, chemicals, equipment and safe working practice.
- Report attendance, punctuality, grooming and performance observations to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Record maintenance defects found in public areas through the hotel’s reporting procedure and follow them up until they are closed.
- Follow up the weekly and monthly deep-cleaning schedule for public areas and report progress and delays to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Report any accident, near miss or security concern immediately to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Duty Manager and complete the incident report.
- Complete a written handover at the end of the shift: tasks completed and pending, defects reported, lost and found items and incidents.
- I will also perform the following relevant tasks for this role:
- Ensure the cleanliness and perfection of the guest areas of the resort, offices and other cleaning duties as assigned.
- Monitor daily arrivals according to occupancy report in co-ordination with the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Assist guests with special needs and requirements.
- Stock supply wheel trolley with required cleaning and amenity supplies for shift.
- Replace resort supplies in public areas such as stationery, guest supplies and information regarding hotel services and facilities in compendium.
- Remove furniture, curtains and other fixtures, which require repair, replacement, spotting, waxing or cleaning.
- Dust and cleans lampshades, ceiling, walls, curtains and decorations in all public areas.
- Wipe and polish all furniture, mirrors, and windows.
- Clean all bathroom fixtures and fittings and replace bathroom supplies.
- Remove all garbage and recyclable items and sorts in the appropriate bins at the back of house area.
- Ensure monthly scheduled deep cleaning tasks of all guest areas and offices are done accordingly.
- Ensure all supplies and cleaning equipment are in good working condition and stored in proper locations.
- Report required repair to Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Return lost and found items to Housekeeping Office and complete required forms.
- Report equipment failure, damage of hotel furnishings or missing items to Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Provide current information about hotel facilities, services and special events to guests.
- Handle guest requests and immediately refer issues and feedback to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Housekeeping Assistant Manager.
- Provide assistance to guests in all resort emergency evacuation procedures.
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene and sanitation throughout all service areas.
- Report any health or safety hazards to the Housekeeping Supervisor, immediately.
- Attend meetings and training as required by supervisors.
- Upkeep Six Senses guidelines and standards of service and operation. My performance benchmarks are maintained and exceeded.
- Strictly adhere to LQA standards and guest comments.
Perform any additional tasks given to me by supervisor/management.
Qualifications
To execute the position of Public Area Attendant Shift Leader, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 years’ experience in a similar hotel operational setting. Hospitality diploma/degree from a recognized hospitality school is preferred.
- Technical skills include MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. I have good understanding of scheduling work, and knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals and surfaces.
- Fluent in English & French
- European or Valid Swiss work authorisation
