The InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown is located in the Wilshire Grand building, standing 73 stories tall in the core of Downtown’s historic, entertainment, financial, arts, and sports districts. Ideally placed at the heart of the revitalized, energy-charged urban center of the United States’ second-largest city, the hotel provides first-class hospitality that seamlessly intertwines with the fabric of the burgeoning Downtown area.

Your Day to Day 

The Human Resources Manager will oversee responsibilities such as recruiting/employment, compensation, benefits, worker’s compensation, employee relations, employee recognition programs and training for hotel employees.  Ensure policy compliance, support the Company’s initiatives, and promote a positive employee culture.  Maintain confidentiality to the extent possible in all HR-related matters.
 

  • Create programs to foster a positive work environment for all employees. Support and administer an annual colleague satisfaction survey 
  • Educate and train managers on hotel policies and disciplines to foster productivity and enhance performance 
  • Conduct new colleague orientation and compliance trainings with all hotel colleagues. Prepare a monthly calendar for training & development opportunities
  • Oversee maintenance of accurate and up-to-date personnel files and records for all employees 
  • Ensure hotel or company hiring standards and applicable laws and regulations are followed  
  • Help create the Human Resources department budget and control expenses 
  • Develop creative ways to inspire and motivate colleagues to provide guests with a unique experience 
  • Work with department managers to develop initiatives to reach service standards and drive continuous improvement in the guest experience. 
  • Develop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand in the local community and promote colleague involvement in local community 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws, policies and procedures  
  • Conduct annual HR compliance/standards self-audit 
  • Research and investigate all workplace issues to discover facts, identify potential risks to the hotel or company, and facilitate resolution through your employee relations programs. 


What We Need From You

High school diploma / secondary education / equivalent. 2 years’ related experience in Human Resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some college courses in Human Resources, Employment Law or related field preferred. Must speak fluent English.  


Additional requirements include:

  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others; demonstrated ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork and management reports, interpreting results, giving and receiving instructions, and training
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, and organizational abilities are used often. 
     

What We Offer

The salary pay range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown in Los Angeles, California. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
