Job Overview: Are you an experienced sales professional ready to take on a dynamic role in the hospitality industry? InterContinental Hotel in Indianapolis is seeking a Senior Sales Manager to oversee and implement all sales activities within a specific market segment. This role involves developing new accounts, maintaining existing ones, and executing strategic sales initiatives to drive revenue growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sell hotel room nights by engaging in direct client contact, maintaining a strong presence in major market areas through various channels such as sales solicitation, telephone outreach, and written communication.
- Meet personal and team sales goals as assigned, demonstrating a commitment to achieving excellence.
- Execute hotel-level tactical sales plans to enhance profitability, including strategies to increase average rates, boost occupancy, and attract business during off-peak periods.
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with local community groups, companies, and officials, actively participating in out-of-town conventions and trade shows to foster new business opportunities.
- Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts, actively participating in forecasting, goal setting, and the annual budget process.
- Foster teamwork and quality service through effective communication and coordination with other departments, anticipating and resolving critical situations as they arise.
- Engage with various external contacts including guests, airlines, corporate accounts, travel agencies, and local media to ensure guest satisfaction, foster repeat business, and generate new opportunities.
- Coordinate business group activities at the hotel, collaborating closely with other departments to deliver exceptional service to prospective clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and may serve as "manager on duty" as required.
Accountability: This role is ideal for an experienced sales professional familiar with the demands of a large full-service hotel. You will focus on key market sectors and top accounts, navigating competitive pressures with finesse and driving success in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, with at least 4 years of experience in hospitality or hotel sales and marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fluent English proficiency required, additional languages preferred.
- Ability to frequently stand, move within and outside the facility, lift items up to 25 pounds, and handle objects.
- Strong communication skills essential for interactions with guests, employees, and third parties.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math for completing paperwork, interpreting results, and giving instructions.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
- Willingness to travel for workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc., and may require a valid driver’s license.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
