What’s the job?
Assist Engineering Supervisor with the engineering operations of the hotel to ensure safety and comfort of hotel guests and team members. Follow brand standards and federal, state, and/or local regulatory requirements. May have responsibility for the Loss Prevention function.


Your day-to-day
FINANCIAL RETURNS
•    Inform superior of the status of repairs and pending costs and indicate when it would be reasonable to consider replacement
•    Record daily service work, including maintaining individual replacement costs along with time/task labour hours cost
•    Establish and maintain proper parts inventory levels
•    Complete daily reports outlining work undertaken for the day


PEOPLE
•    Participate in instructing colleagues on the proper operation, safety procedures and cleaning of all equipment
•    Conduct and/or participate in staff meeting regarding proper operating and maintenance practices of equipment


GUEST EXPERIENCE
•    Perform all routine preventative maintenance and curative maintenance
•    Order and monitor fuels, lubricants and repair parts
•    Maintain clean and tidy plant rooms            
•    Maintain a level of broader knowledge which enables you to handle minor problems in all fields of the department
•    Attend to all types of repair and maintenance work in the Hotel premises, including any new additions / extensions to the Hotel or any other properties maintained by the Hotel  
•    Repair and maintain guest room facilities, light facilities, furniture and equipment
•    Prioritize work in line with guest requests and management
•    Assist with the implementation of the hotel’s preventative maintenance system and repair log system
•    Implement and carry out maintenance program in accordance with established timeframes
•    Carry out and document regular inspections of plant and equipment in computerised system
•    Ensure that appropriate files are maintained and resources kept for future reference
•    Carry duty phone and respond to requests from departments regarding minor maintenance issues throughout the day


RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS
•    Explore and incorporate environmentally friendly initiatives
•    Efficient and effective use of recycling methods
•    Demonstrate Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities (OH&S) policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within OH&S guidelines
•    Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures
•    Be familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly
•    Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers
•    Support the hotel’s corporate responsibility initiatives in the areas of community involvement, environment management, workplace health & safety and food safety, drive action plans as required to achieve hotel corporate responsibility objectives
•    Conduct routine check of fire safety systems, including alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, and emergency lighting.
•    Ensure all fire safety equipment is operational and compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.
•    Respond to fire alarms and other emergency situations promptly and efficiently.
•    Assist in coordinating emergency response efforts and ensuring compliance with evacuation procedures.


What we need from you
1 year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Vocational Certificate or equivalent
Required Skills: 
•    Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
•    Able to read, write and communicate in English
•    Excellent communication, team management skills and service orientation
•    Computer literate
•    Relevant trade skills
