Keep the Island Safe, Secure & Social

As a (Casual) Security Officer, you’ll play a vital role in keeping InterContinental Hayman a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our Guests, Colleagues and Contractors. From regular patrols and maintaining safety and order, to responding to incidents and supporting fire safety and resort compliance, no two days will look the same.

You’ll be someone who stays calm under pressure, enjoys being part of a team and knows how to handle a busy environment. With experience in crowd management and a strong understanding of liquor licensing regulations, you’ll help ensure everyone can enjoy island life safely and responsibly. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in the day-to-day life of the Resort and help foster a positive, respectful environment for everyone who calls the Village home.

No two shifts will be the same. You could be responding to an incident in the Resort, assisting with an emergency in the Staff Village, conducting patrols or supporting the wider Emergency Response Team.

We are looking for people who are calm under pressure, professional, observant and confident dealing with people. You will be someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards, works well as part of a team and is prepared to respond when it matters.

More Than Just Security

This is an opportunity to work in an environment where security, emergency response, fire safety and hospitality come together.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting regular patrols of the Resort, Staff Village and operational areas

• Responding to security incidents, emergencies and requests for assistance

• Supporting fire safety, emergency response and Resort compliance activities

• Assisting with crowd management and maintaining a safe environment during events and busy periods

• Monitoring and responding to incidents involving Guests, Colleagues and Contractors

• Supporting the safety and wellbeing of our island community

• Assisting with emergency response activities and other operational requirements as required

• Ensuring Resort and Staff Village policies and procedures are followed

• Completing accurate incident reports and maintaining appropriate records

Base (casual) rate $43.41 + penalties + loading

To be successful in this casual role, you’ll have:

• Current Queensland Security License – essential

• Current First Aid Certificate – essential

• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate – QLD

• Current Driver's License

• Experience in emergency services, security, fire, law enforcement, military or a similar operational environment – desirable

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
