Job Summary

  • Responsible for receiving guests in the most hospitable manner.
  • All guests arriving to the hotel will be welcomed and departing guests fare-welled in the most courteous and friendly manner

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • At all times well groomed, have a pleasant disposition, greet guests with the most hospitable attitude upon arrival at the hotel, and willing to offer assistance at all times
  • Maintain the entrance and main door area clean and tidy, free of obstacles and ensue that traffic through the driveway is controlled
  • Personal presentation is to be immaculate with a fresh pressed uniform and the correct name tag, neat business style hair, shined shoes and gleaming hands
  • Work in collaboration with concierge and other department for special request (taxi queue)
  • Adhere to guest contact standards at all times
  • Greet all guests with Good Morning/Good Afternoon/Good Evening
  • Use the guest’s name twice in each guest encounter
  • When a guest is departing the Doorperson must thank them for staying and invite the guest to return
  • Provide current knowledge of the services and facilities offered by the Hotel, in order to provide reliable information to guests
  • The Doorperson will have all the VIP’s memorized so that they can provide extra special service on arrival. 
  • Monitor with the bell Captain arrival and departure for Hire car, inform concierge on any changes
  • Monitor and assist arrival and departing crew when necessary
  • Assist guests in and out of taxis and other vehicles and remove baggage from vehicles enabling the Bellboy to escort guests, with baggage
  • Obtain taxis for guests as required and do your best to ensure the guests are not overcharged by taxis by either negotiating with the taxi driver himself, or by cautioning the guest to be on alert
  • Knowledgeable in assisting guests in requests for transport and other information
  • Knowledgeable of the events of the day and of daily Hotel activities
  • Knowledgeable of VIP guests and whenever possible addresses such guests by name
  • Knowledgeable of IHG Reward Club members and Ambassador and greet them accordingly
  • Has presence and alerts Security or Duty Manager whenever a suspicious looking person or troublemaker is present
  • Keep alert for guest entering and leaving the hotel. Suspect guests (including those engaged in competitor analysis, suspicious looking characters, etc)  should be relayed immediately to the Front Office Manager/DM 
  • Conversant with emergency evacuation and fire procedures
  • Remove airline and hotel luggage tags on all bags, if a guest departs with these tags on their bags this is a service failure

Required Skills

  • +1 year experience in guest service or as a Doorman
  • Communication skills; demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties
  • Able to speak, read and write English / Japanese Both
