Chief Accountant - Six Senses Quexigal Palace (New Hotel Opening)

I will safeguard these pillars and ensure that all financial directives, practices, and initiatives are properly implemented, embraced, and maintained across the property.

In this role, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the accounting function, reporting directly to the Director of Finance, and acting as a key partner in supporting the financial integrity and strategic direction of the resort. I will ensure accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information flows to all departments, the Home Office, and ownership.

Duties and Responsibilities 

As Chief Accountant, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the Finance department within Six Senses financial operating standards. In conjunction with the Director of Finance, I am a key participant in setting the strategic direction of the resort. 

The duties and responsibilities will include:

• Maintain effective management of the property’s accounting and credit practices, ensuring compliance with Six Senses financial operating standards.

• Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to all departments, the Director of Finance, General Manager, Home Office, and owners as required.

• Support the preparation of the annual budget and capital expenditure plan, and actively monitor performance against budget targets.

• Oversee all financial transactions, including purchase requisitions and orders, general ledger maintenance, payments, petty cash, payroll processes, internal and external audits, and other financial operations.

• Ensure all internal controls are robust, effective, and fully compliant with financial regulations, legislation, taxation requirements, and brand standards.

• Reconcile financial discrepancies promptly and resolve accounting issues with accuracy and urgency.

• Collaborate closely with the IHG Global Service Centre to ensure all processes are correctly followed and executed in a timely manner.

• Liaise with external stakeholders including payroll providers, tax consultants, auditors, and ownership representatives, ensuring clear and professional communication at all times.

• Promote a strong cost-control culture through training, awareness, and continuous improvement initiatives across all departments.

• Monitor and support payroll efficiency, ensuring optimal productivity through effective scheduling and cost management practices.

• Ensure all corporate, legal, and statutory reporting requirements are completed accurately and submitted on time.

• Safeguard high standards of personal appearance, hygiene, safety, and security procedures in line with Six Senses brand expectations and legal requirements.

• Promote clear communication and collaboration between all departments to support smooth and efficient property operations.

• Undertake stocktakes, vendor/supplier reviews, and storage assessments to ensure proper control and alignment with Six Senses standards and sustainability guidelines.

• Ensure purchasing practices comply with Six Senses Sustainability and “Eat With Six Senses” principles.

• Attend and actively participate in meetings, briefings, and finance reviews as directed by the Director of Finance.

Perform any additional duties as reasonably requested by the Director of Finance to support the successful operation of the resort.

Qualifications

To execute the position of Chief Accountant, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, and professional accounting body certification is preferred. More than four years’ experience in a hotel accounting role or equivalent combination of education and progressive hospitality finance experience.

• CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification is preferred.

•  Strong technical expertise including advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

• Familiarity with hotel systems including POS, PMS, and CRM platforms, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and reporting tools.

• Excellent command of written and spoken English; and Spanish, knowledge of local culture and customs are considered an advantage.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of Six Senses guidelines, brand standards, operating procedures, sustainability principles, and service philosophy.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.Fluent in English; I understand that additional languages are preferred. 

• Eligible to work in Spain. Possession of a valid work permit, EU citizenship, or other authorization permitting employment in Spain is required prior to commencement of employment.
