Your Day to Day
As the Junior Sous Chef at La Mar, you will play a key role in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes that meet our guests’ expectations. You will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, assisting in menu development, maintaining kitchen organization, and supervising a dedicated team of culinary professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring consistency and quality of all dishes.
- Prepare, cook, and present Latin American-inspired dishes with attention to detail and creativity.
- Collaborate with the Sous Chef and Head Chef to develop and update menus, ensuring the offerings align with the restaurant's concept.
- Oversee the training, mentoring, and performance of junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.
- Ensure the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness are upheld at all times.
- Assist in inventory management, including ordering and stock control, to maintain efficiency and reduce waste.
- Help manage kitchen costs, portion control, and other operational procedures to ensure financial targets are met.
- Support in creating an exceptional guest dining experience by contributing to innovative culinary offerings and maintaining high food standards.
What We Need From You
Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for:
- Proven experience as a Junior Sous Chef or similar role in a high-end restaurant or hotel, preferably with experience in Latin American cuisine
- Strong knowledge and passion for Latin American culinary traditions and contemporary techniques
- Leadership abilities with experience in managing and mentoring kitchen staff
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- A creative and innovative approach to menu development and food presentation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Culinary qualification from a recognized institution is preferred
- A commitment to maintaining high standards and providing outstanding guest experiences
