Essential Duties and Responsibilities - (Key Activities)

SPECIALITY PROCESSING

• Process information in accordance with Service Level Agreements. Perform specialty accounting such as maintaining, reconciling, analyzing, and preparing financial statements according to Mexican GAAPS, Review a variety of documents, listings, summaries, etc. for completeness and accuracy.

• Provide analysis and resolution of significant changes in account balances.

• Clearly understand policies and procedures of accounting and taxing,

• Analyze assigned system reports to ensure accuracy, research and resolve problems; ensure the

integrity of assigned system and data.

• Prepare and compile various reports as required for special studies and projects.

• Analyze the financial and fiscal situation of the company to recommend areas of opportunity to optimize tax payments and to avoid/eliminate potential fines.

• Maintain an updated report on fixed asset and depreciation.

• Prepare monthly financial statements using standard accounting and taxing checklists.

• Responsible for presenting tax returns (after audit review) on a monthly and annual basis ( tax calculations of the different legal entities).

CUSTOMER SUPPORT -

• May perform statistical analysis and create charts, tables and graphs as required. Select and use appropriate software's to effectively analyze data. Compile and analyze information.

• Maintain a consistent, high quality customer focused orientation.

• Provide clear, accurate information; explain procedures and provide supplemental information; anticipate problems or questions.

Functional Complexities and Duties -

• Prepare monthly corporate financial statements, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with IH's and Mexican business practices.

• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet and account reconciliation's and appropriate reconciling journal entries.

• Responsible for applying the journal accruals, income and collections on the General Ledger.

• Responsible for reconciling fiscal operations against financial statements.

• To maintain up to date and report the fixed Assets and depreciation using standard accounting and taxing.

• Responsible for booking payroll provisions Vacation, STI, Christmas bonus, Medical and Life Insurance and Uniforms.)

• Prepare, process and explain reports and support documents for Government authorities in different areas (Finance, labor, tax).

• Act as main contact for Government and external auditors, and provide accurate ad-hoc reports for external audit and Government when needed.

• Responsible for preparing information from People Soft to GAAP financial statements by month and translate according to Mexican laws..

• Responsible for invoicing the service agreement from HI Mexicana Servicios and Centro de Servicios

Hoteleros to Holiday Inn Mexicana, S.A. and to Six Continents as well.

• Responsible of processing local licenses and permits to facilitate the operation of the IHG companies in Guadalajara and Mexico City.

• Review compliance with Social Security laws for IHG employees in Mexico, taxes withheld, as well as compliance with other local taxes.

• Provide support to Area Vice Presidents and Directors in the processing of annual income tax reports.

Required Qualifications

Education-

Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree /certificate or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.

Experience -

5 to 7 years progressive work related experience with demonstrated proficiency and understanding in one or more functions related to the position.

Technical Skills and Knowledge -

• Demonstrated knowledge of PeopleSoft or other system's finance, accounting and/or Human Resources modules.

• Demonstrated proficiency in accurately populating databases with necessary information in designated time periods.

• Demonstrates clear, concise and succinct communication skills including adapting both verbal and written communication to the needs and level of the user.

• Strong command of Contpaq, system's finance & accounting.

• Strong command and continuous updating on Mexican Fiscal regulations.

• Communication with Government and internal auditors as well as local authorities.

• Strong PC skills including software packages (i.e. Excel, Microsoft Word, e-mail, etc).

• Effective oral and written communication skills. Detail oriented. Good problem-solving skills.

• Strong organizational and work coordinating skills to handle multiple assignments and projects.

• Demonstrated command of tax processing systems / programs.

• Responsible to make decisions regarding the prioritization of work and for identifying opportunities for improvement.

Internal Key Relationships

This position has contact with Division and Department Leaders, Regional Business Service Center Leadership in compliance with specific Service Level Agreement and governmental regulation requirements while ensuring resolution of customer issues.

External Key Relationships

Professional associations, fiscal & audit firms, local authorities, Government and industry experts to keep informed of existing and evolving industry standards.
