As a Coxswain, you will deliver safe, enjoyable, and professional water sports experiences for resort guests, ensuring every activity is conducted with the highest standards of safety, service, and operational excellence. Reporting to the Manager of Water Sports, you’ll oversee daily water sports operations, vessel handling, and guest excursions, creating a welcoming and engaging environment while maintaining strict adherence to departmental procedures and safety regulations. You’ll be fully confident operating speed craft and hold all relevant licenses approved by the Marine Board of Queensland, ensuring each journey prioritises guest comfort, wellbeing, and enjoyment.

In your day-to-day duties, you’ll conduct thorough vessel inspections, maintain accurate logbooks and records, and ensure all safety equipment is onboard and ready for use. You’ll operate only within designated waters, complete start-up and shut-down procedures, and assist with general setup and pack-down tasks across the department. You’ll also take responsibility for the upkeep and presentation of all water sports equipment, promptly reporting any maintenance needs, while supporting smooth, efficient operations that consistently deliver a safe and memorable guest experience.

Base rate $35.27 + penalties + loading

To be successful in this part-time role, you will have:

• Previous experience in a similar marine, water sports, or resort-based position.

• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and CPR.

• SITHFAB021 Responsible Service of Alcohol.

• Certificate of Competency from AMSA.

• Coxswain Grade 1.

• Strong snorkelling skills and knowledge of the Great Barrier Reef.

• Sound knowledge of outboard motors and basic vessel operations.

• Experience with both game and reef fishing.

• A strong understanding of marine safety and a commitment to following operational procedures.

• Excellent communication and guest service skills, with the confidence to engage with guests from a range of backgrounds.

• A positive, flexible and team-focused attitude.

• The ability to work independently while also contributing to a busy and supportive team environment.
