This role acts as the execution engine for data monetization and AI enablement. Leading an agile engineering team, you will adopt a "Forward Deployed Engineering" mindset. Your focus is not just moving data, but building the complex, real-time pipelines that feed the Data Semantic Layer, populate the Knowledge Base, and reliably deliver AI-Ready Data to power critical commercial goals like "Direct-Channel Defence" and "Loyalty Redesign", You transform static data into predictive engines that drive commercial decisions.
Your day to day
• Commercial Data Delivery and Loyalty Redesign
Execute complex end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines. Develop "Predict-and-surface" engines that push tailored promotions and loyalty redemption options during a guest's "peak-intent moments" via real-time computing. Execute data pipelines for core commercial outcomes like “Direct-Channel Defense” and “Loyalty Redesign”, transforming static data into predictive engines, develop Predict-and-Surface engines that deploy AI to predict redemption intent and surface the right culturally-anchored offer at the exact peak-intent moment.
• Deliver AI-Ready Data Pipelines
Execute complex end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines that transform messy, raw transactional data into highly structured, AI-Ready Data. Develop "Predict-and-surface" engines that push tailored promotions during a guest's "peak-intent moments" via real-time computing.
• Knowledge Base Ingestion & Embedding Engineering
Build and maintain the automated ingestion pipelines for the Enterprise Knowledge Base. Implement scalable document parsing, chunking, and text-embedding workflows to ensure vector databases are continuously updated with the latest operational and commercial knowledge.
• Operationalize the Semantic Layer
Work closely with the Data Platform Owner to physically implement the Data Semantic Layer in code (e.g., using dbt). Ensure that data marts and semantic models are highly performant, API-accessible, and strictly version-controlled for AI Agents to consume.
• Swarm Operating Model & Agile Execution
Operate a fluid "Swarm Operating Model". Dynamically allocate team capacity to the most strategically critical initiatives. Embed Forward Deployed Engineering teams within key business domains (e.g., Loyalty, Commercial), sitting alongside the business to co-own outcomes.
• Compliant Data Processing
Ensure data engineering practices conform to the enterprise data classification framework. Implement dynamic masking, tokenization, and anonymization natively within data pipelines to uphold TRAPS principles.
What we need from you
• Education & Modern Tech Stack Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science/Engineering. Track record of scaling data engineering delivery functions and managing multi-disciplinary teams. Proficient in SQL, Python, real-time streaming architectures (Flink/Kafka), and modern orchestration and semantic modeling tools (Airflow, dbt) on Alibaba Cloud. Hands-on experience building data pipelines specifically for LLM consumption (RAG pipelines, vector embeddings).
• Business Acumen
Forward Deployed Engineering mindset—working alongside business units to co-own outcomes. Deep understanding of hospitality revenue models, loyalty point structures, and OTA distribution logic.
• Hospitality Know-How
Deep understanding of hotel revenue models, dynamic pricing strategies, loyalty point structures, and OTA distribution logic. Capable of engineering data features that support data and AI to optimize direct/indirect booking algorithms.
• Delivery Leadership
Track record of scaling data engineering delivery functions and successfully monetizing large-scale commercial data projects through cross-functional team leadership.
• Language & Certifications
Fluent in English and Mandarin (both written and verbal). Professional certifications such as Cloud and Agile PMP certificates.
