Duties and Responsibilities 

As Security Manager, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the Security Department, ensuring the protection of guests, hosts, visitors, assets, facilities and information in accordance with Six Senses brand standards, local legislation and the approved budget.

 

My responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide strategic leadership for all aspects of resort security, loss prevention, risk management and emergency preparedness. 

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve security policies, procedures and best practices to maintain a safe and secure environment. 

  • Conduct regular security risk assessments and recommend appropriate mitigation measures to protect people, property and business operations. 

  • Monitor security conditions through internal and external intelligence, incident reporting and data analysis, taking proactive action where required. 

  • Lead, motivate and develop the Security team through effective training, coaching, scheduling and performance management. 

  • Ensure full compliance with all local legislation, fire life safety regulations, health and safety requirements, security protocols and corporate standards. 

  • Develop, maintain and regularly review the property's Emergency Response Plans, Evacuation Procedures and Business Continuity Plans, ensuring regular drills and training exercises are conducted. 

  • Maintain strong working relationships with local law enforcement agencies, emergency services, fire authorities, regulatory bodies and other relevant government organisations. 

  • Oversee all physical security systems, including CCTV, access control, intrusion alarms, fire detection systems, electronic key management systems and other security technologies, ensuring they remain fully operational. 

  • Conduct regular inspections of guest areas, public areas, Heart of House facilities and perimeter security, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly. 

  • Investigate security incidents, accidents, guest complaints, thefts and other irregularities, preparing detailed reports and implementing preventive measures where necessary. 

  • Coordinate security arrangements for VIP guests, special events and high-profile visits. 

  • Protect the resort's assets, confidential information and historical property, ensuring appropriate security measures are maintained at all times. 

  • Manage relationships with external security providers and contractors, ensuring contractual obligations and service standards are consistently achieved. 

  • Promote a culture of security awareness throughout the resort by delivering ongoing training and education programmes for all Hosts. 

  • Collaborate closely with all departments to integrate security into daily operations while maintaining an exceptional guest experience. 

  • Monitor departmental expenses and ensure cost-effective use of resources without compromising safety or service quality. 

  • Ensure compliance with Six Senses operational standards, LQA requirements and all corporate policies.

Qualifications

To execute the position of Security Manager, I must possess the required qualifications, technical expertise and leadership experience to successfully manage the security operations of a luxury resort. These include:

  • Bachelor's degree, Higher Vocational Diploma or equivalent qualification in Security Management, Criminology, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline. 

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Security Management, preferably within luxury hotels, resorts or hospitality environments, including experience leading and developing teams. 

  • Thorough knowledge of physical security systems, CCTV, access control, fire life safety systems, emergency response procedures, risk assessment and loss prevention. 

  • Strong understanding of Spanish legislation relating to private security, emergency planning, fire safety, occupational health and safety, and data protection. 

  • Experience in developing and implementing security policies, emergency procedures and business continuity plans. 

  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving and crisis management skills. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and security management software. 

  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both spoken and written. Additional languages are considered an advantage. 

  • Valid European work permit and legal authorization to work in Spain. 

  • Any certifications or legal qualifications required under Spanish legislation for the position will be considered an advantage.
