What’s the job?

As Security & Recreation Manager you are responsible for all aspects of security and regularity on resort and staff residence premises. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with outsource security company, being responsible for the exterior security coverage. As a Recreation Manager, the goal of this position is to design, implement, and lead recreational and leisure activities. Responsible for recreational activities and ensures success of recreation programs. Create and manage schedules for activities and facilities.

 Promotes the desired work culture around the core values of IHG.

Your-day-to-day

People

  • Support colleagues to make sure they deliver with compliance and to the standards we expect.
  • Drive a great working environment for teams to thrive - linking up departments to create sense of one team.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Recommend or initiate any HR related actions where needed.
  • Cooperates, coordinates and communicates with Department Heads and other inter-departmental secretaries as appropriate.
  • Engage the guest and promote activities. 
  • Works with Human Resource Manager/Director to ensure the departmental performance of staff is productive. Duties include:
  1. Assists in planning for future staffing needs.
  2. Assists in recruiting in line with company guidelines.
  3. Prepares and deliver detailed induction program for new staff and contractors.
  4. Maintains a comprehensive, current and guest focused set of departmental standards and procedures and oversees their implementation.
  5. Ensures training needs analysis of Security and recreation staff is carried out and training programmers are designed and implemented to meet needs.
  • Accountable for tracking recreation statistics.
  • Support team members in their learning and career development.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures and ensure compliance by subordinates.
  • Regularly generate written and oral reports to management.
  • Proactively seek ways to improve existing processes.
  • Be prepared to assume other duties as requested by management.
  • Assess recreation programs based on markets and trends and plan activities accordingly taking into account; costs, participant numbers and equipment/facility use and sustainability.
  • Promote and advertise programs in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining recreation budget including controlling expenses and ensuring efficiency of the team.
  • Develop and/or support incentive programs that involve recreation programs to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Review market and industry trends and design new, unique and innovative recreational activities.
  • Enhance guest experience by responding timely and accurately to guest requests and/or emergencies.
  • Ensure that team are properly trained and certified for lifeguard duties and CPR response.
  • Ensure that activities are performed in a safe environment using proper safety techniques.
  • Maintains a record of training for each staff member.
  • Provides input for probation and formal performance appraisal discussions in line with company guidelines.
  • Coaches, counsels, and disciplines staff, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance.
  • Approves leave after considering hotel occupancies.
  • Regularly communicates with staff and maintains good relations.
  • Ensure firearms and other weapons are not carried by staff when on duty.
  • Periodicallly organize and supervise emergency/fire drills.
  • Oversee the security & recreation departments including layout of security personnel and their detailed and regular training.
  • Manage the develop and implementation of departmental standards.
  • Ensure all patrolling, inspection and escort duties are performed to a high standard.
  • Coordinate and organize the day-to-day operations of the department including planning and controlling.
  • Perform leadership training for all senior security personnel.

Financial

  • Help create the department’s annual budget and the setting of departmental goals.
  • Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on equipment and labour costs….
  • Assists in co-ordinating the preparation of the departmental annual budget.
  • Assists in monitoring and controlling departmental cost on an ongoing basis to ensure performance against budget
  • Prepares a cost-effective work schedule.

Guest Experience

  • Deliver Crowne Plaza Brand Promise and Service Signatures to daily work.
  • Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with IHG and the properties’ fire life & safety guidelines and actively support them, first aid, fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly.
  • Engage the guest and follow up on feedback
  • Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers.
  • Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements a professional and positive manner to foster good rapport, promote team spirit and ensure effective two-way communication.

Responsible Business

  • Establish good communication and goodwill with informal leaders and relevant members of local community.
  • Demonstrate Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within OH&S guidelines and ensure your direct reports do the same.
  • Monitor and maintain all product and performance standards and ensure action is taken when standards are not met.
  • Check and analyse all incoming reports to formalize action plan.
  • Maintain the loyalty and discipline of all security personnel.
  • Ensure the all security and recreation personnel as well as resort’s staff are adhering to P&P and security procedures.
  • Establish good cooperation with hotel’s senior staff with other hotels
  • Coordinate with the local investigator in crimes & accident handling and investigating
  • Prepare security plan for specific events (seminar, conference, government guest, with wedding etc.)
  • Be responsible in keeping the property safe and secure, to participate in any resort activity related to Fire Life safety.
  • Carry out registration of residence declaration procedure for tourists and staffs staying at resort and staff accommodation.
  • Assist Head of Business Location/Host Government Inspection and or local authorities when having inspection related to fire, life safety and security.
  • Conduct periodically inspection of fire-fighting equipments/tools, propose solving solutions, establish action plan for fire-fighting.
  • Be a leader of Risk Management program and Emergency Response Team.
  • Establish action plan for Risk Management base on IHG guideline.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments which may be assigned by management when we have to pull together to get a task done.

What we need from you

  1. Education - Bachelor’s degree/higher education, qualification/equivalent in Security field.
  2. Service years:
  • Five (5) years of experience in Security & Risk activities and at least three (3) years in a management role.
  • Experience in a Full-Service Hotel preferred.

       3. Knowledge and skills

  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests and employees. 
  • Problem solving, reasoning, analytical, motivating, and training abilities are often used when estimating food productions, coordinating functions, and performing general management duties. 
  • Ability to remain calm and react quickly.
  • Excellent math skills, reading, and writing are used when completing paperwork, budgets, and other reports.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather.
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships internally and externally.                                                     

       4. Language

  • Fluent in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing)
  • Multi-lingual preferred but not required.

      5. Preferred (if required)

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently standing up and walking around the facilities 
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling 
  • Safe handling of sensitive and confidential guest information.
  • Lifeguard, first aid, and CPR skills required for emergency responses.
